So far this year I’ve had to say goodbye to a friend (see Feb. 24 post) and now an uncle. Miss Pat and Uncle Don lived their lives to the fullest. As a writer, I love stories. I read them. I write them. I tell them. Actually, I tell them all the time, especially my favorites.

Broken Fences
The last week of April, my youngest son and I were heading out the door for evening activities at church when a horrendous storm descended upon us with no warning. We all stood watching at the picture windows on the back side of the house when finally my oldest son shouted, “Get away from the window! I think it’s a tornado!”

Technically Perfect
Yesterday I stayed in bed later than usual. I’ve been tired and achy, and I was facing several long days, so I indulged myself. The downside was that I couldn’t get my typical 45-minute to one-hour time of Scripture reading and prayer time in that morning. The Sound of His Voice
Recently my youngest son and I were in the grocery store checkout line with one last item I needed to complete a meal for our daughter’s and granddaughter’s homecoming from the hospital. My husband and dog waited in the car. This was supposed to be a quick visit. After all, I needed just one item. Achieve and leave: That’s my motto.
