The Good Wife

I always cringe when I see promos for CBS’ The Good Wife because it’s so clear the title is a misnomer. A recent promo showed her responding to her husband’s insistence that his affair meant nothing by saying, “Well, mine did,” or some such blather. Add this to the long list of shows I never need to watch.

Jesus Heals

We all know someone who needs healing. Sometimes it’s a serious short-term illness; sometimes it’s chronic or even incurable. The logical response is prayer, except when it seems illogical.

Today I learned a man I admire exceedingly has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a death sentence by conventional wisdom. And how I pray for him says something about my faith.

Why Bother?

We broken humans often get ourselves into a fix-it mentality. When our personal or professional lives are a mess, we try to find a quick fix that we can apply so we can move on. When those fixes fail, we come to find out that the problem is—gasp!—us, and there’s no quick fix for that.
