The Help That Hurts
I often look at my adult children as aliens. They are God-fearing, pleasant, respectful, mostly responsible young adults whose existence makes the world a better place. What a departure they are from young adults in the world I had known, one where children were brought down and not brought up.

Occupy My Heart, Lord
In my college years and early adulthood, I was an idealistic intellectual. Reading philosophy and sociology books for fun, I believed we could achieve a utopian society if only society leaned more toward libertarianism. Wrap Yourself in Plastic Wrap, Not Foil
I like to see what’s in my fridge and my freezer. See-through containers, plastic storage bags and plastic wrap are my favorites because once I put something in an opaque container, I can’t see it and I don’t think about it anymore. Sometimes I’ll freeze something in foil to prevent freezer burn, but in my stupider moments, I won’t label it. (more…)
