Jesus, I Was Wondering . . .

When Christians suffer, one of the first things you may hear them say is, “When I go to be with Jesus, I’ll ask Him why this had to happen.”  I’ll avoid such weighty philosophical musings so I don’t find myself being chastised the midst of a whirlwind, but I do have a questions of my own.

So, Jesus, I was wondering:

What’s Your Legacy?

Maybe it’s because I just got over a kick-you-in-your-behind illness, or maybe it’s because I’m officially a woman of a certain age, but I think about things like what people will say about me at my memorial service. Heavenly Minded and of No Earthly Good

Nearly two weeks ago, my youngest son came home sick after serving as staff at a weeklong church camp. When his fever crept up into unnatural numbers, the doctor confirmed the unpleasant reality: the flu, a summertime strain for which we hadn’t been inoculated.
“You’ll come down with seven deadly diseases,” my oldest son prophesied as he looked at me almost accusingly.
