There is a place on the side of the road as you are coming into Monument Valley from the Utah side where they have a sign that marks the spot of a famous movie scene where the infamous Forrest Gump supposedly ended his cross country run back in 1980. I remember the scene well. It’s kind of fun to go out into the middle of the road and re-enact the scene and get a snapshot. If you’re ever headed that way, be sure to watch for it. I found it on Google Earth before I went down so that I would know the approximate location.
