Finding God: A Free Book from Bible Sprout

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. 1 Peter 3:15

When I was growing up in the Midwest, we had ethnic pockets of Italians, Irish (my people), Germans, Hungarians, Poles, Brits, Russians and the like. It was easy to communicate with the people in your community because they were just like you. You had common worldviews, common values and common language.

Today those same neighborhoods are a mishmash of all those ethnicities and countless more. And here, in the Deep South, the diversity is even more pronounced. But our increased diversity has brought further isolation as people tend to identify primarily and perhaps exclusively with those who are like them.

For Christians, this poses an opportunity and a challenge. We are commanded to “go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). How convenient, then, that the world has been brought to our doorstep! But now what?

How do you share Christ with someone whose worldview is so completely foreign to you? The reality is we are generally ill-equipped for the task. What we need is a cheat sheet that gives us an overview of major world religions and walks people from those faith groups from where they are to faith in Christ using Scripture.

eBook-smallAnd that’s exactly what my friends at Bible Sprout and I have done for you in my free ebook, Finding God. Bible Sprout’s vision is to help Christians grow in their faith, which is my heartbeat, so this collaboration is a perfect partnership. The result of extensive research, this book provides an at-a-glance view of how prominent faith groups began, what they believe, who Jesus is to them, and how they purport people may be saved – if at all. I then attempt to debunk that worldview point by point to provide paths to salvation in Christ.

Readers can use the text as a crash course in particular world religions so they can share Christ extemporaneously, or they can share texts verbatim – via email or on social media, for example – with people God has laid on their hearts. A missionary friend recently quoted straight from the Jehovah’s Witness section when an evangelist came to his door. Did the man believe? No. But he heard.

Faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

We each have a responsibility before God to share the hope that is within us. Will you be ready? And will you someday hear those blessed words, “Well done, good and faithful servant”? That is my heart’s cry, not just for myself but for you. Finish well, my friends. You can do it. We can help.
