When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

Anyone with a heartbeat can tell you that life doesn’t make sense. Babies die; mean people get rich; nice people get hurt; beauty fades in a most unforgiving way. Life goes along swimmingly for a flicker of a moment before the cycle of pain, confusion and disappoint comes back around all over again. Life is hard, except for perhaps those people who make it hard on everyone else.
But let’s get back to those flickers. Those are God moments – moments where love and goodness and graciousness prevail, moments that give us a foretaste of glory divine. Those moments are tailor-made treasures that present us with a choice: Either we focus on the trials, or we focus on the treasures. I focus on the latter, and that’s the focus of this blog.
Let me say up front that I’m a Christian, and the Bible is my source of truth. You may not share my faith, but I hope you stick with me on a journey that will help us make sense of the seemingly senseless by putting them through the filter of God’s word.
Maybe you’re bitter from the hardships you’ve faced. I’ve faced my own. But from the ashes of disappointment have come hope and purpose. From pain has come joy. And that’s what we’ll talk about next time.
